TWIG the Ipswich florist
It really does seem like only yesterday, but in 6 years Twig are proud to have established a name as THE 'go-to' place for innovative, unique, sophisticated and stylish floral designs.
Twig, the Ipswich florist, specialises in arresting displays and bouquets that really stand out from the rest.
Michael Pooley is a renowned bespoke floral designer, listed as a top 50 UK florist by The Independent newspaper and has been been lucky enough to be listed in the Good Florist Guide each year since 1999. When not at his retail store, Twig, or decorating one of his client's properties, you can find him teaching. Michael has honed his extensive experience into three types of floristry for teaching purposes: floral design, flower arranging and commercial or retail floristry. Courses in commercial work are geared towards large multiples and people wishing to make a career out of flowers. It was for this reason, Waitrose chose him to train a member of staff in each of their 348 UK stores for their specialist horticulture role. He has demonstrated his skills at the RHS Hampton Court Flower show several times, spoken on radio and his work is often seen in wedding and lifestyle magazines. He has consulted for some of the UK's largest companies and helped numerous students start their own businesses.
A fourth generation fruit and vegetable merchant's son, he started his floral business at Greenwich market, selling impulse buy bunches of UK grown flowers. He then went on to create solely for weddings until 1996 when he opened his retail unit in Clerkenwell, London. Michael's creativity and unique style quickly led an elite clientele, particularly from the dance, fashion and design world. Michael opened his first stunning Twig branded store in 2012, in Suffolk's county town of Ipswich. He's a firm believer that anyone with a creative eye and a sensitivity to client requirements, can create beautiful, well designed floristry anywhere.
